Pershore Town 88 F.C. was formed in 1988 when Pershore United and Pershore Rec. Rovers joined together with a junior section called Pershore Bullets to provide a better standard of football and to generally improve the facilities at King George V Playing Fields.

Now in our fifteenth year, we can look back on a very mixed bag of results. The early years were absolutely exhilarating. No one could even begin to imagine the astounding success that was to be achieved as the club went forward laying solid foundations for the future of the club, which is still going strong now.

Having originally being placed in Division Two of the Midland Football Combination League back in season 1989-90, the Town lost the opening three fixtures then proceeded to take the division by storm. With the manager back then, John Judge, the Town ran out comfortable winners of the league by an eleven point margin.

The following season saw promotion to Division One (1990-91), where having had a very creditable season finishing third the Town were promoted by the League Management Committee to the Premier Division. This was to be a stepping stone for greater things in the short history of Pershore Town.

Season 1991-92 saw a change of manager when Colin Shepherd was appointed, who in turn took the Town to sixth in our first season and then to a creditable forth in season 1992-93.

The following season 1993-94 saw Pershore Town ’88 entered into the F.A. Cup for the very first time, winning through to the Forth Qualifying Round after having impressive victories at Racing Club Warwick, Northampton Spencer and Pelsall Villa before defeating

Atherstone United at home in front of the BBC cameras and a then record crowd of 730, before finally succumbing 1-3 to Yeading in front of an incredible record crowd attendance of 1,356. This incredible experience gained and the determination of both the players and club continued right to the end of the season when Pershore Town ’88 lifted the Premier Division Championship Shield on the very last day of the season.

During these formative years, the club also won the Robert Biggart Memorial Cup an incredible three times, the Worcestershire Junior Cup and the Jack Mould Cup as well as being runners-up in the Worcestershire Senior Urn.

Having won the Midland Combination League Premier Division title, Pershore Town ’88 became founder members of the newly formed Midland Football Alliance League in season 1994-95.

Prior to the 1998-99 season, Pershore Town ’88 amalgamated with former Midland Combination Champions Worcester Athletico, with the hope of bolstering the Towns’ struggle to survive in the Midland Alliance.

Having spent six seasons in the division, and after several managerial changes relegation came at the end of season 1999-00 having finished bottom of the league, resulting in Pershore Town 88 dropping back into the Midland Football Combination Premier Division where the club still remains.

Season 2004-05 saw Pershore remain most of the season in the bottom three of the Combination. After the exit of management duo, Nigel Russell and Gerry Forde, Midfielder Adam Ward stepped in to take the reins as player/manager and put a run of wins together finally lifting Pershore from the bottom of the table to finish in a healthier 16th position.
